The Paladin's Guild.

So you have made the decision to take the role of a Paladin, that is an easy task, anyone may enter a Chapter House and take the title Paladin, to be a good Paladin is another matter, not only on the field, but also at home. In a war or skirmish a Paladin is found toe to toe with the enemy, leading those who would follow him into battle, in times of peace (if there is such a thing) Paladins are often found within the Empaths or Clerics Guild, harnessing Mana, tending to the wounded or weaving Glyphs to aid all. In either way Honor must be kept.

If your decision is to join this Guild, then know even though it is hard work, it is more then worth it. May Chadatru guide your path.

You have two choices if you find your statistics lacking, go to the various training spots around the city, and train up, or go to the Guild House and request to join, there they can train you, but its will cost more Time Development Points (TDP's) then if you did this off your own back.

Advice - Once you have the Guild Requirements I would at first train Strength and Stamina, Paladins tend to wear Plate, and its heavy, not to mention most Paladins tend to use heavier weapons such as a Bastard Sword, Halberd etc. all of this requires you to be able to move, if your armor and weapons take you to your knees, chances are your not going to do well in a fight. My Initial goal was to get Strength to around 20, and Stamina to 15, and even after reaching this i find myself still burdened. After you have the ability to stand under the weight of your armor it would be advisable to put a few TDP's into Agility and Reflexes, Agility helps with hitting your target, and Reflex in defending, Paladins are not as nimble as Rangers, but you still need to react to Parry, out of these two i would say favor Agility, maybe for every 2 points you put into Agility put 1 into Reflex, at least to start, it may sound foolish as I know some do not train this skill till later, but I have found that even after a few training sessions my skill with the blade has increased so when I slice and parry I hit more and defend more. Paladins don't get magic until they reach thier 5th Circle, once you reach 5th I would then start upping Intelligence and Wisdom. Discipline helps with combat and Magic so worth putting a point in as you go up when you can. Charisma is another matter, Paladin use this more so then any other guild apart from the Bards and Traders.

As you progress through your Circles you will begin to feel what you need to progress better and faster. There are several 'ideas' on how to best build statistics, I tend to feel it is a personal matter depending on how well you do, if you DO seek advice, I would find someone of the same Race and Profession to ask. For example I found in combat my skills were not lacking more I hit less then other Guilds, when I did hit, with my strength at 20 it tended to make a mess, and against unarmed foes it is easier as they have nothing to parry with. With this in mind I decided to train in Agility and Reflex, already I have found myself improving and able to aim for specific spots with more ease.

As you gain your circles within the guild you will be given right to titles, these show your status within the guild, some always use a title they have reached via circles, some choose to keep a title they feel fits how well they have done. Remember, you may come across a Sir, who is stronger in mind and body then a Holy Guardian, but for reasons unknown to you, the Sir has decided he is not yet fit to bear the mantle of Holy Guardian. I knew one such man, my father, Suner, though he had attained the rank of Sir, for a long time he regarded himself as a Squire, simply because he felt that he did not have the knowledge to be a Sir. Then there are others who will wear the title of a young Paladin purely so others will duel them, and find themselves totally outmatched.
